DID YOU JUST SAY DOGNOG?!
Yup! You heard it right. We are officially stocking Steve's Real Food Enhance DogNog supplement for cats AND dogs! I had the absolute pleasure in testing this new product out on my pooches and I am here today to give you my true and honest opinion on whether DogNog is worth it.
So, is Enhance DogNog worth it? Without a doubt, yes. I can be a bit skeptical of things like this, and trust me my dogs are even more skeptical than me, but I think we all agree that DogNog is going to become a staple in our household.
So what exactly is DogNog? Steve's Real Food line Enhance is a line of products that serve as a bridge between kibble and raw feeding. Many pet owners agonize over the hassle that goes into raw feeding, Enhance products are here to help you enhance their current diet without having to go full blown raw feeding. All of the Enhance products start with a base of freeze-dried goat milk, they then are each formulated with carefully chosen superfoods designed to alleviate specific health issues in your cat or dog. Each formula is packaged in a really neat reusable glass milk bottle so that all you need to do is fill it with water, shake, and pour over your pet's food. It's that easy! And when you run out, you don't have to buy another milk bottle, you simply have to buy an 8 oz. refill container!
I chose to test the Enhance DogNog formula specifically because it's primary purpose is to alleviate inflammation and allergies in pets, and because my dog's seem to be allergic to everything, I felt this was the perfect product to try on them. DogNog is made by infusing whole, freeze-dried eggs, turmeric, yucca, cranberries, bromelain and coconut flour. The combination of turmeric and yucca provides a strong anti-inflammatory component to this formula, making it idel for pets with mobility issues, allergies, or even pets with inflammatory diseases such as Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD). That yucca continues to play a part in supporting the urinary tract along with the added cranberries by providing high levels of Vitamin C and flavonoids. Last, but certainly not least, this formula is tied together by the addition of bromelain. Bromelain is a protein extract that is derived from the stems of pineapple, which act as a binder to aid in the absorption of the turmeric and yucca, therefore enhancing this formula's anti-inflammatory effects!
So how did it help my dogs personally? Well, pictured with this blog is my now 5 month old puppy, Ava. Miss Ava suffers from common environmental allergies and she often scratches at her ears, causing them to become very red and inflamed. Not only did Ava scarf her food down when I began adding the DogNog, but her ears began healing immediately. The itching of her ears began to slowly stop, and today they are almost healed! And that's without ANY medication at all.
