Our Story

Paleo Pet Goods is a natural, independent, pet nutrition and pet sitting business focusing on cats and dogs. In 2006, one of the largest pet food recalls occurred causing a drastic shift in pet nutrition. Due to the devastating results of this recall and the apparent need for reputable and reliable people in pet nutrition, Christine Dawson, Managing Owner and Pet Nutrition Advocate, opened Paleo Pet Goods. Christine realized that not only was education desperately needed in the community regarding natural pet nutrition, but the availability of species-appropriate diets was needed as well. Since then, we strive to focus on stocking our shelves with species-appropriate foods that are made by small, family owned manufacturers based in North America (USA and Canada). Additionally, not a single brand offered at Paleo Pet Goods sources their ingredients from China or any other undesirable location.

Over the last 10 years, Paleo Pet Goods has grown to not only provide in-store product and consulting availability, but also now has a fully stocked and functional online store for the convenience of our customers. Our team of experienced pet sitters and Pet Nutrition Advocates are ready to help you with your questions about what foods are really best for your dog or cat.

Christine Dawson is a passionate advocate for pet nutrition and the founder and owner of Paleo Pet Goods and Pet Sitting Services, based in Webster, TX. Her journey as a trusted pet food and supplies curator began in 2007, when she witnessed the devastating effects of poisoned pet foods on countless American pets. Determined to make a difference, she embarked on a mission to educate and empower pet parents to feed their beloved companions with confidence and peace of mind.

With her extensive knowledge and expertise in pet nutrition, Christine has become an expert in helping pet parents make informed decisions about their pets' diet and overall well-being. She understands the concerns and worries that pet owners face, and her goal is to provide them with the resources and support they need to nurture happy and healthy pets who enjoy long, fulfilling, and quality lives.

Realizing that her impact could extend beyond her individual reach, Christine has taken the initiative to empower and mentor her team at Paleo Pet Goods, transforming them into pet nutrition advocates as well. By expanding their collective knowledge and expertise, she aims to help even more pet parents navigate the complexities of pet nutrition and wellness.

Christine's dream is to establish Paleo Pet Goods as a trusted resource within the pet community, offering guidance and assurance to those who worry about whether they are providing their pets with the best possible nutrition available. Through her dedication and commitment, she strives to make a positive difference in the lives of pets and their owners alike.

Outside of her work, Christine is a loving pet mom to three cats, a dog, and an adorable lop-eared bunny. She shares her life with her supportive husband, John Dawson, who shares her passion for helping pet parents. When she is not working, Christine enjoys indulging in her love for music and exploring the fun activities and vibrant culture of her hometown, Houston, TX.

At home, Alyssa shares her space with Misty, a super cool black kitty who brings joy and laughter to her life. And let's not forget Toph, her little sister, who adds an extra dose of love and adventure to their daily routines.

I love Paleo Pet Goods! They have a great variety of food, treats, and even toys for cats and dogs. They also have excellent customer service, including being very communicative. The staff and the owner are always very friendly too! I haven’t done the pet-sitting, but I’m sure it’s great! Highly recommend for your pet needs!

After several years of having to give my dog steroid shots to ease her allergies, I finally decided to try a more natural and hollistic approach. We had very little knowledge about raw food diets but when we found Paleo and spoke with the owner, she made it very easy. She knew exactly what to suggest, and after doing a food trial, my dogs allergies almost completely went away! I say almost because we have other pets and my dog likes to sneak in eating a few kibbles or bites of things she is allergic to, if she has the opportunity. Were also still testing different proteins, which takes time. Paleo has been great throughout the entire process--even when the food we were using went on backorder through no fault of their own, they gave us an alternative option that worked great :) The staff are also very friendly, the store is always clean, and we are always helped right away. For the reviews mentioning being closed when they shouldve been open.. I think it is important to always take things into context. Small businesses have limited staff, and still have lives outside of the business. They still deal with family emergencies, car problems, days when they are not feeling well.. To take the time to leave a negative review because of an extenuating life circumstance only makes that person leaving the review look bad, not the business. Id also like to mention the flip side of this--how I had left work late one day (due to helping an entitled and difficult patient funnily enough) and really needed to pick up my order because my dog was out of food. I called and asked if there were any way they could wait for me for just a few minutes, and they most certainly did. I do not take giving reviews lightly, but would absolutely recommend Paleo Pet Goods to anyone who is interested in feeding their dog high quality foods and wants to support an awesome small business :) Thank you Christine and team! You are wonderful! ❤
